Ledger was launched in 2014 by eight experts with complementary backgrounds in embedded security, cryptocurrencies and entrepreneurship, united around the idea of creating secure solutions for blockchain applications, when this market was still in its infancy.

The people behind Ledger

Eric Larchevêque


Serial entrepreneur since 1996, Eric founded several companies in various sectors across Europe. In 2013, he discovered Bitcoin and the blockchain technology that struck him as the fourth industrial revolution. He then opens La Maison du Bitcoin, the French Bitcoin Center, before co-founding Ledger with the ambition to build the next European technological giant.



Pascal started his career at Kelkoo, a price comparison service acquired by Yahoo for EUR 475 million in 2004. He then joined the advertising company Criteo in 2008 where he worked for five years as COO, being instrumental in the pivot to advertising, which led to the company’s global expansion towards a EUR 2.17 billion market capitalisation. Before being nominated President at Ledger, Pascal worked as Venture Partner in Mosaic Ventures, a London based venture capital firm focusing on Series A stage companies. Pascal is also non-executive chairman of Kaiko, a financial data website on Bitcoin.



Nicolas worked on Card Systems for 5 years at Oberthur, a leader in embedded digital security, ultimately as R&D Solution Architect. He left Oberthur to launch his company, Ubinity, which was developing smartcard operating systems. He finally co-founded BT Chip to develop an open standard secure element based hardware wallet which eventually became the first version of the Ledger wallet.



Joel has 20 years of experience developing products as well as services in various sectors, especially in the Web, Media, and Music industries. In 2012, Joel launched Chronocoin, an online platform allowing its users to buy bitcoins using their credit card and have them delivered to their door, on a hardware wallet, before co-founding Ledger.


VP Business Development

Thomas worked for the Boston Consulting Group before creating Prixing, a mobile shopping app to get local prices, coupons and circulars, which was sold in 2013 to HighCo. Thomas then co-founded La Maison du Bitcoin, the French Bitcoin Center, prior to Ledger in 2014. He holds a Master of Science from Ecole National des Ponts et Chaussees (France).


VP Corporate Development

Jean-Michel has 15 years of experience in the Financial industry, working for Euronext and then the New York Stock Exchange, where he held various positions covering Equity Research, Strategy, M&A and IPO. Jean-Michel has been involved in the FinTech ecosystem over the past few years, acting as Advisor to capital market technology firms and to France FinTech, the French Association for Startups, and as Mentor in several Accelerators. Jean-Michel is a also a Lecturer at ESSEC Business School and Pantheon Assas University (France).


VP Operations

Prior to co-founding Ledger in 2014, David launched Chronocoin, an online platform allowing its users to buy bitcoins using their credit card and have them delivered to their door, on a hardware wallet. With a strong background in Web Development, David previously worked as CTO for RadioceRos, one of the first popular French webradios and as Head of IT for laboheme, a Cosmetic company.


VP Hardware

Julien started his career in 1999 in the Mobile Phone Division of Alcatel as Hardware Engineer, before moving to ST Microelectronics, initially as Hardware Support Engineer and then for 8 years in the Secure Element Division, working mainly for Gemalto. Julien joined Ledger in September 2015 as Director of Hardware Engineering and was nominated VP Hardware in July 2017.

Anna Kowalska

VP People & Culture

Anna has 12 years of experience in Human Resources leading organizational change, shaping culture, and driving business results in fast paced, highly collaborative organizational environments in various industries. Before joining Ledger in September 2017, Anna was acting as VP Global HR for Deezer, scaling and building out the company’s People Strategy globally, and then as Global HR Director of TripAdvisor Media Group, leading all global HR activities for several brands in Europe. Anna also serves as a HR strategic advisor to various entrepreneurs and founders throughout French Tech.

Abbas Gassem

VP Sales Operations

Abbas has over 15 years of digital experience working with start ups, high growth companies & corporates. He held various senior product roles at kelkoo.com, Yahoo!, Starz Play, a video-on-demand company, and Careem Taxi, a MENA leading ride hailing service and unicorn. He has worked in Europe, in the United States and in the Middle East. Abbas holds a Graduate Diploma in Computing from London Metropolitan University, a Bachelor of Science in Economics & Social Policy from University of London and an Associate Degree in International Business from Schiller International University Heidelberg, Germany.


Head of Customer Success

Vanessa worked for 15 years in the Music industry, holding various positions in Strategy and Communications, while collaborating with dozens of companies, such as a Parisian Concert Hall or a French Symphonic Orchestra. Vanessa became interested in Bitcoin when she worked on the RadioceRos WebRadio Project and then on Chronocoin. Since then, she became passionate about blockchain applications, and ended up co-founding Ledger in 2014. She now heads the Customer Success Division of Ledger.
